Community
Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Ombudsman and
the Community Advisory Committee work together to uphold
the Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Residents' Bill of Rights.
These advisory
committee members are appointed by their county commissioners
to serve as volunteers to make official periodic visits to
the long-term care facilities in their county. Their duties
are designated by the North Carolina General Assembly and
they are trained and assisted in their duties by the Regional
Area Agency on Aging Ombudsman. They are responsible for being
informed on aging and long-term care issues, and being a "bridge"
between the community and the resident.
